SCOPE OF WORK:
We worked with Next Now, a Chicago based company that develops interactive software systems, to develop the housing and mechanisms required to execute the interactive touch screen technology for this campaign, aimed at improving the consumer experience at the gas pump. The "façade" had to be designed to allow service access and vertical adjustability, without drilling or otherwise physically altering the existing pumps during field installation.
SOLUTIONS TO OUR CHALLENGES:
All we were provided with from the client was their interactive touch pad specifications. We needed to design a solution that integrated the touch pad device and its software, while addressing other in-use application challenges including accessibility, security, serviceability, installation and aesthetics. The touch pad was housed within a substantial metal unit with a hinged door and lock for service access. The device was then secured to the vertical pump pillars with strapping. An internal aluminum precision bearing track allowed for vertical height adjustment. A careful mix of sizing, placement, colors and graphics served to seamlessly integrate the device onto the existing pumps.
